Ok, going into this free agent period the Flyers biggest foe was the evil “cap”. Overspending for players was not an option, and they needed an upgrade. Mission one of, general manager, Paul Holmgrin’s off season plan was to sign the free agents they wanted to keep. Jeff Carter, Riley Cote and Randy Jones were all on that list. With Jeff Carter signed and Rily Cote not going anywhere, Sights were set on Randy “Headfirst” Jones. Looks like the inevitable has happened. Brett “She was asking for the black eye” Myers has been sent down to triple A ball. We had a dead pool going on him at work, most of us thought they’d tell him to get lost and don’t look back, but it looks like they’re giving the old jokester a chance at redemption.

Like my Friend Justin just said, today is the free agent period for the NHL. Today childhood dreams of making stupid amounts of money for playing a game come true. Today is one of the many days that solidifies that being a teacher is stupid and ice skating around while hitting a small piece of plastic well into your 30’s is the route to go. With all the insane amounts of money being thrown around already (John-Michael Liles getting 4Mill a year, Ryan Malone 7.5 Mill a year..yes I am being serious about that number WTF!?) This is going to play out very interesting. Where does the most over-hyped free agent in the market, Brian Campbell go to collect HIS 8 Millilon dollars a year pay day? Which team is Marian Hossa going to under achieve for next? Do the Flyers make a significant move? Only time will tell, and Im sure most of the will be answered today. Ill try to keep a running tally all day long. This is the second best hockey day of the year, only to the trade deadline, so get excited.
