One of these things is not like the other

One of these things just doesn’t belong.
If you’re not a gamer.
If you don’t want the ball.
If you don’t strive for the opportunity to succeed.
If you’re the opposite of clutch.
STEP UP OR GET OUT.
Disrespecting the Champs
by rob on Oct.27, 2009, under Phillies, sixers
The above is the front page of the NewYorkPost. I was going to take the high ground for this series. I wasn’t going to bash the Yankees. I mean, they’ve bought won 26 World Series, that’s nothing to make fun of. You have to give them props. But I guess giving a little respect to the reigning champs is out of the question. And putting a skirt on Victorino with the photoshop skills of Michael J. Fox on the North Pole (think about it), cmon you can do better than that? The Frillies? Weak sauce dudes…weak fucking sauce.
The story reads “Yankees fans have a message for the Phillies and their hometown: This ain’t Rocky, and the underdog won’t win!”
Um yeah. Its not boxing, it’s baseball you fucking dickwads. And ummm we aren’t the underdogs we’re the reigning world mother fucking champs. Silly silly “fans”…oh that’s right 90% of you aren’t even NYC natives, you’re all imported from the armpit of America (read: New Jersey)…no ones a New York Native, you’re all shitty imports.
Listen up New York “Fans”, when our team won the NLCS they stayed among their fan-base and partied with us in the stadium. Where was your precious A-Roid when your shit team won? That’s right, in the locker room away from you in-bred neanderthals, huffing each others taints.
EAT A BAG OF DICKS NEW YORK.
Oldschool meets Newschool - Phillies Anthem

Came across both of these within the past 10 minutes…what are the odds? So I figured I’d post em both. Love the guest appearance by the Schmidter. I’m not a huge fan of the amateur hip hop, but you gotta love the enthusiasm.

Sixers Win! Sixers Win!
Yawn. Basket Ball preseason is so damn boring! No Reggie Evans? Man.
Hockey is here and Play Off Baseball? Oh, and that Eagles team is playing again.
Bring on the cream puffs!

***Update, looks like the e-bay gods deleted the post…I shoulda taken a screen grab***
Looks like someone is trying to get rid of Brad in a unique way. I’m bummed on him and all, but ouch. This is harsh:
Today was a good day…well sorta
by rob on Sep.14, 2009, under Eagles, Phillies, sixers
And by “Today” I mean yesterday…and by “Good” I mean, well…not so good. In terms of Philly team wins, it was a great day, but at what cost.
Phils sweep the double header against the Muts, Birds route the Panthers, and who knew B. Real was an Eagles fan?
My thumb is a bit exhausted this morning after all the flipping back and forth between the Birds and Phils yesterday, but it was great to see the D step up in the opener letting the Panthers take up where they left off last year, handing the ball over like they were paid off. Good job with that contract extension for your QB there Carolina!
Now here’s my thing…we were handling the game by the 3rd quarter. Our D was all over them, and our offense had gotten into a rhythm. Does Donny Mac really need to sacrifice his body in game one in a not so crucial spot just to go from 31 to 38 points? I mean, I know it was a late hit and all that cracked the rib, but damn man, you finally had a healthy season! Don’t be doing that shit! Now it looks like he’ll be out for at least one game if not more, from what I’ve been reading ( new post on allthingsphilly ).
That being said, all those turnovers were sweet as hell to watch, along with the Desean punt return, I hope Jim Johnson was looking down and smiling, his D definitely showed up.
Now, the Phillies….ohhhhh the Phillies. Finally getting some runs there in that first game on Sunday. I couldn’t believe it, we had more than a 1 run lead!? It seemed like the first time in forever. Then the final inning comes. Needless to say, I passed out and turned blue from holding my breath when they brought Heartbreak Lidge into the game. Dear lord that dude scares me…do we need a 3 run cushion going into the ninth for every stinking game!? And since I haven’t posted in awhile…WHAT IS UP WITH ALL THE STRANDED BASE RUNNERS IN SCORING POSITION. PLAY SOME SMALL BALL PEOPLE!
After the first game ended, the wife and I saddled up to head to the bank to see game 2. There were many Mets faithful in the crowd, so I was proud to be sporting my very own “Official Choketown Muck the Fets outerwear“. This, along with my wife yelling “Mets SUCK!” at every fan in blue and orange that we passed made for good times. We proceed to our seat where we had the luck of sitting right next to two Mets fans!
This is just one of the many reasons that I win when it comes to my old lady…the dude next to us (we’ll call him “Gold Chain Wearing North Jersey Scum Trash Fuckwad” for short). Keeps staring us down, and my shirt in particular. I didn’t even notice this. But apparently my wife did, so she proceeds to say “What the hell are you looking at? Do you have a friggin problem” at which time I think to myself “Hrm, I wonder what sleeping in a south Philly jail will be like?”.
Luckily like most Mets fans, he was spineless and shut the hell up. Oh yeah, there was a game going on too! Pedro looked like an absolute beast at times, but I couldn’t believe Uncle Charlie left him in there for 130 some pitches…I saw what I thought was Chan Ho long tossing in the 8th when he was up around 90 pitches and thought for sure he’d be yanked. I guess Uncle Chuckles knew something we didn’t. We ended up walking down to the main level from our nosebleed seats to watch the game and my wife (reason #341 she rules) ended up asking some passer by if he was leaving and if she could have his tickets. Turned out they were 1st row tix right behind Howard. We watched the last 2 1/2 innings from there. So good. Okay, enough rambling…I haven’t posted for awhile, so I figured I’d get a longer one in. Go Birds! Go Phils!
2 Headed Old Man Monster
by rob on Aug.18, 2009, under Phillies, sixers
I’d be happy with this every Pedro outing! Have Martinez pitch 3/4 innings, then bring in old man Moyer for the last 3/4! Perfect. As much as I love Moyer, putting him in the pen was the right thing to do, it was great to see him work his magic after 9 days off on the young Diamondback hitters, but if we faced a more patient bunch like the Cards…probably a different story. Either way, if Moyer/Martinez were our combined #5 guy in the rotation…I’d be alright with that.
Still stranding runners like it’s our job. Small ball boys!! Looking forward too Cliff lighting them up. Go Phils.
Weekend Wrap Up
by rob on Aug.17, 2009, under Eagles, Phillies, sixers
Quick weekend wrap up…first of all, I got to go to the pre-season game against the Pats last thursday (thanks Tony!) and not only were they badass tickets (lower level suite…can’t beat it) but it felt good to get my football on. I miss it. I tried to blog throughout the game but for some strange reason the At&t network was shitting the bed when I attempted to upload it, turns out it was because everyone and their brother were tapping the intertubes to see if the Vick trade rumor that was floating around was true.My thoughts…
McNabb - Still throwing some worm burners, not cool.
O-Line - Cheese…swiss perhaps?
McCoy/Buckley - Looked badass
Joe Mays looked good, small, but good stepping in for Bradley
The Vick thing. Being an animal lover, and owner of dogs, I find it hard to think there’s not something very wrong with someone who has the capacity to drown, electrocute and torture animals. It takes a screwed up person to do anything as despicable as he has. That being said, as someone who believes deeply in grace and redemption, I’d be hypocritical not to give the guy a second chance. As a pure football decision, with Kolb hurt, who wouldn’t want Vick as a #2?
Phillies. I know a lot of people were blaming the offense for not getting Brad “Heartbreak” Lidge some security runs in the second game against the Braves, but cmon. The dude is obviously not taking any time during practice to work on his move to first base (people steal on him at will), so maybe he can use all that free time to practice fielding a friggin bunt! And throwing it to first? Hold that shit dude, making us look like the bad news bears. After losing to the fish, we need to win every game in the NL East whether we have a one run lead or not. I don’t know if he’s got to get his head straight, or his injuries are affecting his command, but something needs to be done. Grandpa Moyer for close? HA!
Is anyone else scared that it seems like the only way they can score runs is with the long ball? I mean how many times are we going to see stranded base runners this season…small ball anyone?
(PS if you don’t get the photoshop work above, check out the original link for the movie poster)
He’s baaaaack. 7 man rotation anyone?
by rob on Aug.07, 2009, under Phillies, sixers
Well not quite back, but Brett Myers just pitched in a simulated game and says he’s, “feeling fine” and is ready for another one on Sunday. I say we get him back up here and screw all this talk about a 6 man rotation…screw that, let’s go for 7! Justin just sent me the full article from Philly dot com, check it out here.
And just to clarify, I was joking, a 6 man rotation is dumb, stop talking about it. And I’m stoked for Happ, way to go dude. Jamie, it’s been fun…
It’s Done! T shirts are here.
by rob on Aug.06, 2009, under Eagles, Flyers, Phillies, sixers
So ladies and gentleman. I know I’ve been talking about it for months. Hell, I’ve been talking about it since day one of this blog. Two years ago? But the day has finally arrived. We have t-shirts. Check em out above and check em out at our newly opened webstore CLICK HERE DAMNIT.
I’ve been meaning to post about the Phils (Go Happ! Glad you’re still with us buddy) and even a little Eagles action (when did Andy Reid turn into such a cry baby?) but obviously have been busy geeking out with the store and re-skinning of the blog. I hope you like the new look of the site and I hope you buy a shirt (my wife hopes so too since I dipped into our savings to get em printed…whoops).
Okay, it’s late and I need to crash. More shirts and a t-shirt design contest coming soon!
